Immortalised in the novel by Alexandre Dumas, d’Artagnan is an iconic figure in our collective imagination. The Château de Lavardens, a 17th-century masterpiece nestling in the heart of one of France’s most beautiful villages, invites visitors to rediscover the story of this modest young man from Gascony who became a musketeer to the King, a hero to the nation and a legend far beyond its borders.
Thanks to treasures from national and private collections that are rarely exhibited, documents from popular culture and innovative digital devices, the exhibition retraces an extraordinary destiny and the emergence of a universal myth.
Throughout the event, there will be talks by leading specialists in the field and a wide range of activities, as well as a specially-designed trail for young people.
